Computer Pioneer
In 1970, Intel was only
making memory chips for calculators. They had not yet invented the
microprocessor.
In January of 1971, a young Intel
engineer named Federico Faggin designed
and successfully tested the 4004 chip -
the world's first microprocessor.
Like an artist,
Frederico signed his creation. He hid
his initials within the design of his
new processor. To this day, chip designers
continue this practice. |
